Pacemaker, Loop Recorder and Defibrillator Assessment

We offer a local clinic for assessing the function of Pacemaker (annually) and Defibrillator (six monthly) devices. How often your device gets checked can alter overtime due to a multitude of reasons, however, if there are no complications or you are not nearing a battery change/box change, then annually and bi-annually are our usual guidelines.

If you have a Loop Recorder device, you will also need to see the Cardiologist for review at the time of your Assessment appointment. The Secretarial staff knows this and will book you in accordingly.

This is in conjunction with a representative from the company who manufactured your device. Due to COVID restrictions, there may not always be a representative here. We have also gone from only performing assessment clinic on Fridays , to having multiple checks during the week.

If there are any problems with the device we can either manage that locally or consult with Cardiologists who specialise in these devices.

Please bring your device card and also an up to date medication list to these appointments.
